Allowing Choice while Controlling Spend
The multifaceted requirements of bespoke ladieswear, extreme outerwear & PPE sitting alongside more standard items of workwear, combined with a desire to implement an online ordering system that would be accessible to all and manage & control spend, made this a very challenging brief!
Ordering had been the domain of Head Office, but with over 2000 staff providing transmission facilities & infrastructure across the UK, Arqiva needed a less bureaucratic, more efficient system. Mathias’ in-house IT Team set to work developing an online portal that would let individuals order, but still control budgets. Employee job roles were uploaded linking each login to their specific range of products and an allocation of points, allowing everyone to select from a range of garments & PPE up to a certain value, but not beyond. Once the points allocation has been reached, no further orders can be placed without higher authorisation
This simple system permits each member of staff an element of choice over their clothing, whilst retaining a unified Corporate look and importantly, gives Arqiva complete budgetary control.
Ladies fit poloshirts were developed to sit alongside their male counterparts, specialist technical outdoor clothing was sourced to meet the rugged demands of the Scottish highlands, PPE requirements for gloves, footwear, head, eye & hearing protection were assessed and appropriate levels of conformity & protection provided. A year in and employees were correctly protected, branding was coherent & distinctive and spend was under control.
